Job Description:

A leading boutique law firm with deep expertise in tax and business law is seeking a mid- to senior-level associate with 3–5 years of experience to join its International Tax and Transactional Tax practices. This position is based in either Washington, D.C. or New York City and involves sophisticated, partner-led work on cross-border tax planning, advisory, and compliance matters.

The successful candidate will support high-net-worth individuals, privately held businesses, multinational corporations, and foreign sovereign clients with strategic tax planning, treaty interpretation, and cross-border structuring. The role is well-suited for candidates who are intellectually curious and thrive in an environment of rigorous legal analysis and direct client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on inbound and outbound investments

  • Structure complex international transactions and reorganizations

  • Provide pre-immigration and expatriation planning for individuals

  • Draft legal memoranda, transaction documents, and client alerts

  • Conduct treaty analysis and assist in APA/MAP proceedings

  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys across multiple offices

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school; LL.M. in Taxation highly preferred

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in a law firm environment

  • Strong background in international tax planning or related transactional matters

  • Familiarity with passthrough entities, treaty application, and private fund structuring is advantageous

  • Outstanding writing, research, and communication skills

  • Member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar
