Salary Range: $225,000 – $310,000+
An elite global law firm is looking to add a mid-level Tax Controversy Associate (3–5 PQE) to its renowned US & International Tax practice in New York. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside top-ranked partners on complex, cross-border disputes involving both administrative and litigation-based tax controversy matters.
Key Responsibilities
- 
Represent clients in IRS administrative proceedings and federal tax litigation
 - 
Assist with audit defense, appeals, and litigation strategy development
 - 
Conduct legal research and draft memos, pleadings, and briefs
 - 
Analyze complex international tax issues, including treaty interpretation and transfer pricing
 - 
Collaborate with transactional tax teams and cross-border advisors on integrated controversy strategies
 
Candidate Requirements
- 
3–5 years’ experience in US federal tax controversy (administrative and/or litigation)
 - 
Background in Big Law, Big 4, or IRS Office of Chief Counsel preferred
 - 
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
 - 
LLM in Taxation is a plus, but not required
 - 
Admission to the New York Bar required
 - 
Strong academic credentials and commercial awareness
 
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $225,000 – $310,000 depending on class year
